“A Multidisciplinary Melody for the Body and the Brain”
It is our pleasure to invite you to the 13th edition of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society Congress, which will take place in Montreux, Switzerland, from May 28th to June 1st, 2017.
Montreux is a beautiful city located on the shore of Lake Leman (also known as Lake Geneva), and easily accessible by train from the 2 Swiss International airports, Geneva and Zurich. Montreux is also easily accessible by train, or by car, from many European cities and their airports.
Montreux has an amazing Congress center (2m2c, also home of the world-renowned Montreux Jazz Festival) located on the lake shore, that will host our conference and which offers unique exhibition capabilities, allowing the sponsors and the commercial partners for perfect participation and display of the latest equipment.
All hotels will be within walking distance, making the stay very convenient and enjoyable, especially at that time of the year.
Expect a remarkable scientific programme with the latest on body and brain radiosurgery, which will allow our multidisciplinary participants from all over the world to learn from each other and exchange many innovative ideas in this constantly growing field.
Besides the participation of specialists in Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology, and Medical Physics, that have a long tradition in building up Radiosurgery as a unique multidisciplinary area of medicine, we also plan to have a large participation of colleagues from related fields and specialties (e.g. surgery, imaging, medical oncology, engineering, etc …) and increase their interaction with Radiosurgery, for better multidisciplinary approaches.
The Montreux area is about breathtaking landscapes on the Alps, vineyards, villages and castles, elegant “Belle Epoque” edifices, festivals and culture, with exceptional locations to organize an outstanding social programme, as the perfect complement to our scientific meeting.
Last but not least, we are making all efforts to provide the most affordable prices (for example, the registration fees will not increase in comparison to the previous congresses), in order to encourage the largest possible attendance in attractive and safe Switzerland.
In the name of ISRS, we are glad to welcome you in the beautiful and jazzy City of Montreux on the Swiss Riviera. Let’s meet for the new ISRS melody!

Announcement Letter – 13th Meeting of ISRS
We are proud and enthusiastic to announce the 13th Meeting of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS). This multidisciplinary society, completing this year 25 years of successful work to develop Radiosurgery worldwide is the catalyzer for a scientific revolution in Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics. The knowledge of three diverse specialties created novel therapies for before untreated diseases. The ISRS leadership brought several lines of development key for the progress in Neurosurgery and Radiation Oncology. Both specialties enjoy the security of a technic using principles previously existent in both specialties, but necessitating a genius’ mind to take the obvious to the knowledge of all. Dr. Lars Leksell conceptualized Radiosurgery in 1951, idea that 40 years later would give the birth to our truly international and multidisciplinary society in 1991.
Our biannual meetings alternate between Europe, Americas and Asia. The 2017 will be commemorated in Montreux, Switzerland, parallel to its world renowned Jazz Festival. The beauty of the Montreux Lake with its historical castle serves as scenario for the orchestration of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society. The precision necessary in Radiosurgery is the same required by music. Music is the theme of this highly scientific meeting, denoting the need of the multidisciplinary team in Radiosurgery, working as an orchestra, in complete match of knowledge to help patients with a minimally invasive and highly effective therapy for the most difficult diseases that man can experiment.
ISRS will bring to Montreux the most important developments in Stereotactic Radiosurgery. These developments will be sponsored and displayed by the most prominent vendors of Radiosurgery equipment. The most experimented Radiosurgeons and Radiation Oncologists practicing Stereotactic Radiosurgery in the world will share the latest updates on the field.
As has been the tradition for 25 years, the ISRS meeting promises to be a forum for actualization, socialization with pears and enjoyment in an outstanding venue, where work will meet pleasure.
