
Dr David Mathieu M.D., F.R.C.S.(C) obtained his medical degree and post-doctoral neurosurgery training at the Université de Sherbrooke, in Sherbrooke, Qc, Canada. He then did a fellowship in gamma knife radiosurgery and stereotactic neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He returned to Sherbrooke in 2006 to begin his neurosurgery academic career. He has risen to the rank of Professor in the Departments of Surgery, Division of Neurosurgery, with secondary appointment in Medical imaging and Radiation biology, at the Université de Sherbrooke. He is the director of the Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Center at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS). He is responsible of clinical research in neuro-oncology at the CHUS Research Center and serves on the board of directors of the International Radiosurgery Research Foundation (IRRF). His areas of expertise include neuro-oncology, stereotactic radiosurgery, and functional neurosurgery. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters and performs peer-review on a regular basis for many prominent neurosurgery and oncology journals. He has been a guest speaker sharing his radiosurgery expertise and experience at many national and international meetings.
